Jayden's Funeral Ceremony
Ceremony for baby Jayden Luke Thomson Great Southern Garden of Remembrance, Mt Cotton, Qld 2.00pm Thursday 18 May 2006 Celebrant: Mavis Brown

First Song - "Angel" Sarah McLachlan
Mavis welcomes us all and tells of the sad loss of Jayden in our lives.
Rod and I read the following poem (which was hard to do because I was trying not to cry): In a baby castle, just beyond our eyes Our baby plays with angel toys That money cannot buy. Who are we, to wish that you had known this world of strife? Now play on our baby You have eternal life. At night when all is silent and sleep forsakes our eyes We'll hear your tiny footsteps Come running to our side. Your little hands caress us So tenderly and sweet We'll breathe a prayer and close our eyes And embrace you in our sleep. Feelings we will treasure Sometimes they'll make us sad Because, our little baby We are still your Mum and Dad.
Mavis says some more lovely, sad, but comforting things.
We all join in the Lord's Prayer.

Mum reads a beautiful paragraph which she has written about her much loved first grandson.
Mandy (Rod's daughter) reads a verse: An angel in the book of life Wrote down our Jayden's birth And whispered as she closed the book 'Too beautiful for this earth' Farewell little brother.
Mavis says the last poem: A lovely baby boy gone to rest He was just a treasure in so many ways I just loved him from the first day I saw the little man Now he has gone away. God has taken him to a far better place I know we will all miss him But the love he has left behind No one can erase. So dear little angel Go and suffer no more We loved you so No one can take your place God will take you in his arms And hold your smiling face.
Everyone stands as Mavis gives us her blessings and bids us farewell.
Last song - "Goodnight My Angel" Billy Joel
Rod and I leave the chapel and when we are all outside, we release a big sparkly, blue and purple butterfly helium balloon into the sky. As it heads up and up and up, the clouds part and the sun shines; the most amazing sight - like Jayden is waiting there to catch it. Eventually the balloon becomes just a little dot until we could see it no more; a symbol that our little man is no longer physically with us, but free of pain and in a special place where he can watch over us forever. A little later, as we arrive at the venue we were to have refreshments at, I got out of the car only to see the most beautiful rainbow in the sky. No words can describe the sad joy in my heart; our angel was not so far away, I was sure.
